A Magical Story
Look inside, You must find it, It's deep within, And all around.
It's a gift that only you can give, It's the song your heart yearns to sing.
So take a deep breath, Reach for a star, Don't be afraid!
Let the Magic Shine
Imagine a song that opens a magical show, called “Let The Magic Shine.” It's the main tune of the performance, not only an original piece but also a refrain that echoes at the show's finale.
Set in Paris during the mid-19th century, this tale unfolds in a mysterious setting. A Wizard entrusts Mickey Mouse with a special task—to clean his enchanted workshop before the moon disappears from the sky in fragments. There's just one rule: Mickey must not touch any magical items. If he succeeds, he'll be rewarded with lessons in magic, but the temptation to explore the magical items is almost too much to resist.
Alone in the studio, Mickey finds a Magical Hat, which he affectionately calls “The Talking Hat” (in French, “le Chapeau Qui Parle”).
Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo
In the grand opening scene of our magical tale, Mickey Mouse meets one of the most beloved characters from the classic 1950 film “Cinderella”—the Fairy Godmother. Together, they sing and dance to the enchanting tune of “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo” in French, weaving a spell of little tricks and illusions around them.
As their joyful performance unfolds, Cinderella herself joins in. She's in a rush to get to the Royal Ball, and as she appears, the song “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes” fills the air in English, another beloved melody from the classic animation. Just as expected, the moon begins to fade, adding urgency to the night, while Mickey has yet to tidy up anything in the magical workshop.
Be Our Guest
As Mickey Mouse continues his cleaning adventure, he stumbles upon Lumière, the charismatic candelabra from the beloved 1991 Disney animated film “Beauty and the Beast.” Initially startled by Lumière, Mickey soon finds himself drawn into an enchanting banquet. This isn't just any feast; it includes ten lively dancers who add to the spectacle!
Get ready to clap and celebrate to the tune of “Be Our Guest,” sung in English, as this joyous party unfolds on stage. But the magic doesn't stop there. Prepare for a shift to a more intimate scene, where Beauty and the Beast share a tender moment, dancing to their iconic song “Beauty and the Beast,” beautifully performed in French.
Circle of Life
In the next magical moment, as the Talking Hat urges Mickey Mouse to get back to work, Mickey gets sidetracked by a broom and accidentally activates an antique item. This unwitting action summons Rafiki, the wise character from the 1994 animated classic “The Lion King.”
As Rafiki stirs the savannah to life with the opening notes of “Circle of Life” in English, exotic animals of all kinds unexpectedly surge onto the stage. Giraffes, gazelles, ostriches, and many others participate in a choreography that echoes the original Broadway musical version, creating a spectacular display before an astonished audience.
This segment also features an instrumental piece from “Busa,” a track from the 1995 album “Rhythm of the Pride Lands,” which is a musical continuation of the original soundtrack. This vibrant scene blends the thrill of live performance with the heart-stirring rhythms of the savannah, captivating everyone with its dynamic celebration of life and interconnectedness.
Friend Like Me
As another piece of the moon crumbles away, Mickey Mouse stumbles upon a lamp which he accidentally activates. In a swirl of magical smoke, the Genie from the classic 1992 film “Aladdin” appears.
The song “Friend Like Me” fills the air in English, inspiring everyone in the audience to tap their feet, especially in a lively tap dance. The rhythm, colour, and joy performed by the actors make this moment truly magical. This scene isn't just a display of whimsical fun, but a spectacular invitation to dance and celebrate with Genie's enchanting antics, making it an unforgettable highlight of the show.
Let It Go
The final adventure of the show reveals the world’s most beloved snowman, Olaf, alongside Mickey Mouse. Together, they chat about magic and warm hugs under the instrumental version of Olaf’s song “In Summer.”
But then, Queen Elsa approaches, preparing for one of the musical’s most spectacular moments. Direct from the movie “Frozen” (2013), she performs a soaring rendition of “Let It Go,” one of Walt Disney Studios' most famous songs, sung in English.
Don’t miss the best part of Elsa’s transformation—the magical trick with her dress, inspired by the iconic scene in the movie! This is one of the most stunning effects in “Mickey and the Magician” at Disneyland Paris, captivating audiences with a breathtaking display of magic and wonder that brings the spirit of Frozen to life.
Let the Magic Shine (Reprise)
In the grand finale, Mickey returns to the studio, trying his best to perform magic but fails. Just as the Wizard appears, Mickey feels disheartened for not keeping his promise. However, together, they harness the power of magic and charms to set everything right.
In the end, Mickey Mouse keeps his promise and, as a reward, he becomes a magician. This marks a joyful reunion as all the friends he made during his adventure return to the stage. Together, they sing a reprise of “Let the Magic Shine,” thanking the audience with bows and nods, celebrating the magic they've shared. This heartwarming conclusion teaches everyone that with perseverance and help from friends, magical things can happen.
