The story of creating Walt Disney Studios Park
Originally, Walt Disney Studios Park was never meant to be, instead, it was envisioned as a new pavilion for the standalone Epcot park.
Way back in 1987, a magical agreement was made between The Walt Disney Company and the country of France. They dreamed up a plan for a super special resort that would be all ready by 2017. Part of this dream was to open a brand-new park just three years after Disneyland first said “hello” to the world.
They thought about calling this new adventure Disney MGM Studios Europe. But, things at Disneyland Park and the whole resort started a bit slower than everyone hoped, so they had to wait a little longer for this new park.
Fast-forward to March 16, 2002 – a big celebration for Disneyland Paris's 10th birthday – and that's when Walt Disney Studios Park finally opened its gates to welcome everyone to a world of fun.
Over the years, this park got bigger and even more fun, adding awesome rides like The Tower of Terror and a place where you can cook up some fun with Ratatouille. Even with all these cool things, Walt Disney Studios Park is still growing and dreaming of more. The opening of Marvel Land: Avengers Campus has started a new adventure. And there's more magic on the way with Frozen Land and Star Wars Land planned to be ready by 2025/2026, making this park a place where every visit is a new story waiting to be told.
